Now into our 43rd season;.... Our thanks to all our guests, new
and returning, for their continuing support, kind words of encouragement
and appreciation.
We are again very proud to have retained our place amongst the
AA's top hotels, with our 'Inspectors' Choice Hotel' and 'Red Star'
accolades (8th successive year) and a rosette for our meals (14th
successive year) as well as a Gold Award from English Tourist Board
(Visit Britain), and inclusion in Good Hotel Guide and Michelin
Guide thanks to the continuing efforts of Andrew, Mark, Bruno and
Anna, in fact all of our staff, upstairs and downstairs.
Due to many requests from local residents, we are now offering
Light Lunches and Afternoon Tea to non-residents, served daily from
10:30 am until 4:30 pm in our comfortable lounges or extensive gardens.
Now also serving 2 and 3 course Sunday Lunches. An idyllic and restful
setting in which you can enjoy excellent food and first class service.
Non-residents now also have the opportunity to sample Andrew and
Mark's award winning cuisine in the evenings. Served at 6:45pm,
the 5-course menu offers fresh, home cooked cuisine, skilfully prepared
from local ingredients. However, booking is essential as availability

Back in the 19th

Your hosts, the Read family, offer a feeling of 'Country House'
hospitality, ensuring that all of their guests receive the very
best in personal service. The food, which is acclaimed throughout
the region, is only one of many reasons why guests return time and
time again, meeting old friends and renewing their love of the breathtaking
scenery in this idyllic corner of the lakes.
